I remember when McDonald's had the bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich. I think it was called the McBLT. Don't quote me on that. But on that acronym, I finally got a chance to watch Better Luck Tomorrow this weekend. I know, sounds like a 007 movie or something.
I don't really want to summarize what the movie was about. But I don't know why I never watched it sooner. The movie was awesome. Cinematography wise it was very well done. There was good use of angles and imagery. I will say though, it was clearly a low budget independent type film. You have to be willing to look past that to appreciate it.
I also think I could relate a lot to the characters. And yes, a huge part of it might have been they were Asian. But with that comes the experiences growing up as an Asian in America. I just thoroughly enjoyed it. And if anyone says that girl is hot, please stop smoking crack.
I also watched Smokin' Aces. I had a pretty mundane expectation. I thought it would be really dumb and just full of action. I was pleasantly surprised when the movie decided to develop some sort of plot and plot twist.
So I managed to not come home for sixty hours this weekend. I literally crashed on people's couches. It was pretty fun actually. I got to talk a lot with people I don't normally talk to. At least about more serious things. The best part of it all, I got to eat Top Dog. Man, I didn't know how much I missed that place. I seriously think I had not eaten there in over four years. It was nice to see that it was mostly the same.
I actually think the highlight of the weekend was just being in that crummy old city called Berkeley. It's fun to see how things change yet stay the same.
