So let me recap some history. My first car was a 1999 white honda prelude. It was a fun car to drive, and being my first car it was an automatic. Everyone thought it was such a good looking car. I feel it was a bit much for me to handle as a first car though.
I got into a lot of trouble with that car. Katherine says there is a curse on those cars, maybe she is right. Either way, it was sold in a moment of emotion after I got into an accident. I felt I was not ready for a car, and maybe I was right. But it felt pretty painful to not have it anymore. I grow attached to my cars.
It took a long time before I got around to getting another car. I finally purchased a 2000 silver subaru impreza rs. We named him Grommit. I love this car. My only wish is that I had him from the beginning. Here we are in 2006, so that makes the car at least six years old. He's showing the signs of a six year old car. Don't get me wrong, he runs like no other, and I'm pretty sure he will run for another 100,000 miles and more if taken care of.
Even so, I think not having him since the beginning makes me feel like I got into an old car. Which I don't mind, except maybe in the back of my head.
So now I'm trying to sell him. It's one of those sad moments, because I really liked him and took good care of him. But I know it has to end. I remember when I frst got my prelude, I thought I would keep the car forever. Silly attachment sentimentality. Things never work out that way.
At first I thought maybe I could use Grommit as a track car, but he is a bit of an expensive base to build off. Plus, as much as I would like it, I'm not at a point in my life where I should have two cars.
Yes, I said two cars. This weekend we welcomed into our family Grommit Too Intense. Yes, that's his name. It is represented by the letters GTI on his butt.
Yes, I went and bought a VW. Maybe I will regret it, but we can't be afraid of regrets. Life is full of learning experiences. Plus, when will I ever get to drive a hatchback. In a few years I will be too old.

it's sad to see grommit go...and so for its sake i will refer to it by its real name instead of the name that i prefer...although katherine showed me a picture of GTI and i think it's quite a nice car. You'll enjoy GTI a lot!
