So I went to the library yesterday and earlier today, both times the library was closed. What's up with that? I think it would be marginally inexpensive to open the library earlier, say at like 10am instead of 12noon. But on the plus side, I am impressed that the library is open until 9pm on certain days.
In other news, I recently watched all of the Matrix Trilogy and most of Animatrix. Why? Because I was bored and I felt like watching them all at once. I have only wathced then seperate from each other, so it's hard to compare them directly.
My opinion is that Matrix is far better than Reloaded or Revolutions. I figure most people will agree with that. I think the reason it's so much better is because of the little things. For instance, there is a great distinction between old and new. Everything surrounding Neo at his apartment looks old, faded, and used. This is in contrast to things like the office building.
The whole Alice in Wonderland line. It's supported by the appearance of many checkered tile floors. Did you ever notice that the movie starts and ends at the same motel, which also looks run down. This whole "used technology" concept reminds me of another trilogy that uses it really well. You can get a eprop if you guess it.
Did you also realize that when Neo is in the custody of the Agents, the scene opens with him on a wall of TV screens. Reloaded anyone?
In my opinion, Reloaded was a decent movie in it's own right, but it tries much harder to be symbolic and uses CG to fill in the details. I think that's it's biggest weakness.
Revolutions was the gut wrenching one. I'm a big fan of epic movies where there are dramatic battles. In essense, that it was Revolutions was and it was nice. The end got kind of weird though. The whole Neo Agent Smith final fight scene was way overboard. Obviously paying tribue to, or at least looking a lot like, some anime you might know as Dragon Ballz. And yes, it does. I wasn't particularly impressed with that scene, but overall I liked the emotional depth of the final installation more than the action of Reloaded. In addition, did you notice the Sentinels running away when the Hammer broke into the docks. Obviously there were scared of the EMP, but I liked how it showed a human trait in the robots. It showed a different side of them that hadn't been shown before.
So for those that skipped all that long rambling, here is the jist of it.
Matrix - Great because of the little details.
Matrix: Reloaded - Not too bad, but tries hard to uber symbolic. Good action.
Matrix: Revolutions - Showed a deeper emotional side of the entire trilogy. Epic battles.
My ranking goes Matrix, Revolutions, and then Reloaded.
I was going to give a long list of my character ranking in terms of preference, but I think that's enough of the Matrix for now.
