Halloween.

Halloween came and passed. Like many years, I did nothing. I really don't like Halloween.

I hope my sister reads this. It's November, so I've been reflecting on how my year has been so far. It was obviously very turbulent, and at times seems impossible, but in the end things always happen for a reason. The goal is to take the right perspective, learn the right lesson. Sometimes I think I've only been able to complete that task part of the way. Even so, you learn a little. That's what growing up is about.

This past Friday was Moon's birthday. I actually brought her present all the way down from Mountain View. I managed to hide it until Thursday. It was hidden underneath a pile of blankets, and then she goes and leans on the pile.

Long story short, it was ok since it was just a cashmere sweater type thing.

I also made reservations before leaving Mountain View. That's the one thing about coming to a new area, you really have no ideal where things are and where to go. So I make reservations at this wine bar called Old Vine Cafe. It is kind of in the middle of somewhere, but not where you'd expect. It's close to a Patagonia.

Regardless, it was pretty good. It's kind of small, I think it had like ten tables. But very quaint and good. It wasn't uber expensive either.

And yes, I got her flowers too.

Then on Saturday I went with a coworker to Ruth Chris. I was only able to get a reservation for 9pm. How whack is that? This would never happen in San Francisco, but apparently the idea of high end steak down here is Ruth Chris. Bleh.

Ended up eating at around 8pm at the bar. Worked out because it might have been a little awkward sitting down in a dark corner with my coworker, another guy. Just him and me.

I have to say, it was good. Steak was very decent, not the best I've had but it was still worth it. The potatoes au gratin side was amazing. Spinach was bland, but man those potatoes. Should try the brocolli next time.
